Our Astoria location has reopened for in person classes. We now have over 50 classes a week including Hot Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Restorative, Pilates, Prenatal, and Barre Fit. We are adding more classes every month as people come back to indoor activities. Our LIC location unfortunately closed permanently during COVID. AS of March 2022, our Zoom online offerings have been discontinued after two years.
The story that inspires the naming of our training program is that which describes Hanuman’s dedication to learning and his humble nature. Gifted at birth with unlimited strength, but also cursed with forgetfulness, Hanuman was rarely aware of his incredible potential. Only by surrounding himself with loving friends, and devoting himself to a cause, was Hanuman able to discover that he could lift mountains!
This story of Hanuman is one we can all relate to. The ‘Hanuman’s Tale’ yoga teacher training program is an opportunity to surround yourself with supportive, like-minded people and to realize your strengths and qualities. To uncover your potential for incorporating yoga into your lifestyle and sharing your experience with the world.
Led by Victoria Greene, and with guest lecturers visiting us along the way, Hanuman’s Tale will prepare you to teach yoga with clarity, compassion, and confidence.
This 4-month training; provides a foundation in the principles of physical postures, breathing practices, meditation, teaching techniques, and anatomy and emphasizes the philosophical underpinnings of yoga. We will meet in person for a total of 10-weekend sessions beginning in September and ending in Mid-December. Every Wednesday we will have an online meeting to discuss our work together and help you to stay on track, with support and guidance. Please be aware that this training will take up a lot of your time. Friends and family members should be in agreement with you, should you decide to participate.
If you are a future yoga teacher, or are curious about yoga and want to thoroughly deepen your understanding of it, we are proud to offer you a carefully composed schedule of training.

The Yoga Room Mentorship Program: An opportunity for yoga teachers to develop their skills and deepen their knowledge of yoga through personal study under the guidance of an experienced mentor.
The Yoga Room mentorship program provides a unique experience in continuing education. Over the course of three months, you will be guided through an in-depth study of asana practice, teaching skills and yogic study. Following your own path of research, you will be paired with an experienced teacher who will challenge and support you to find your own voice as a teacher. The program has flexible hours and is made up of the following components:
Private Mentorship Sessions
You will meet with your mentor once per week for a discussion session. These sessions will be structured to outline your goals and objectives and discuss your progress. You will also be given reading and writing assignments relevant to your interests. (Total 12 Hours)
You are required to practice two Asana classes per week, either both with your mentor or one with your mentor and a second with a teacher that your mentor will recommend. A membership to The Yoga Room for the duration of your training is included in the cost of the program. (Minimum 36 Hours)
Observation / Assist
Initially, you will observe your mentor’s class and have a brief discussion afterwards to answer any questions that may have arisen regarding sequencing, assists, etc. If your mentor deems it appropriate, you may begin to offer assists within the class and, guided by your mentor, lead one or two poses in class. (Total 9 Hours)
Towards the end of the program, you will have an opportunity to teach two full-length classes. Your mentor will observe and provide feedback. (3 Hours).
Your mentor will assign you reading and writing projects to complete, custom-tailored based on your personal intentions and what your mentor deems most appropriate for you. (Minimum 20 Hours)
This program is open to those who:
- Have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program (or equivalent)
- Have completed the mentorship application form.
- Currently practice at The Yoga Room or who are known to the Yoga Room teaching team.
This unique program can start at any time to coordinate with the availability of a Yoga Room mentor.
