Dan began studying yoga in 2002 while trying to decide which gym class to take in order to fulfill a requirement in college. Interested in finding some relief for back pain, and other sports related injuries accumulated through many years of training, little did he know the profound journey of self-discovery this decision would lead him on. Shortly after, he happened to find a friend’s copy of B.K.S. Iyengar’s Light on Yoga and after reading it from cover to cover he was inspired to begin practicing daily, using the book as a guide.
Upon moving to New York City in 2007 and commencing study at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York, he became more and more interested in imparting yoga’s lessons to others, and helping those in need to discover and benefit from its practice. Dan graduated from the two-year Teacher Training Program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York in 2011, and is Certified at the Introductory II Level by the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the US. He has also traveled to Pune, India three times to study with the Iyengar Family.
