Entering the Aerial Yoga class at TYR is like entering an oasis of serenity. A feeling of calmness comes over you as you become surrounded by the beautiful white silk hammocks that hang softly from the ceiling. Immediately you are welcomed by the gracious teacher Anna Morgan who makes sure your hammock is just the right height for your body. The class starts with some gentle heart openers and then advances into some deeper poses that twist you up, down and all around.

Perhaps the best part about Aerial Yoga is that after Anna helps you lift off into the poses, you are then given time to experience each one on your own, It like having your very own adult playground!

After flying around, the class begins to slow down and you unconsciously find yourself cocooned in your comfy warm silk hammock, where you allow your body and mind to absorb all the wonderful benefits that the class has bestowed upon you. In one particular class that I had the pleasure of observing, I watched enviously as the students laid nestled in their hammocks, and Anna softly read a beautiful insert from a book about New York City that said: ” Our fears are our tour guides. They are begging to be overcome. On the other side of every fear, ecstasy awaits us, hanging out on some romantically lit street corner wondering whats taking us so long.”

As the students emerged from their hammocks, their faces were completely relaxed and rejuvenated. It was in that moment, that I realized just how special the experience of Aerial yoga was.

Who should Try Aerial Yoga?

Everyone! This class is designed so that anyone from beginner to advanced can sign up and get accurate instructions to get the most out of their practice. However, be aware that Aerial Yoga is contagious; you get lost in all the new fun poses you learn and it literally “flies” by. An added bonus to practicing Aerial Yoga at TYR, besides the great workout, is having the opportunity to practice under Anna Morgan. Her patient voice guides you gently from pose to pose and allows you to get lost in the moment.

Why Try It?

The Aerial Yoga class at TYR is an experience that everyone should make time to try. It is the perfect workout to release the stress that is bestowed on our bodies by allowing us to remember what it is like to be kid again. Make sure to sign up in advance, as the classes are becoming very popular and space is limited. We hope to see you around our serene TYR Aerial playground!

Yes! With all the fun we’ve been having around the studio lately, we thought it would be great to create a blog that allows you all to have an insiders view of TYR. Our yoga community is growing fast and we love all the support we’ve been receiving from all of you. We can only hope that we’ve kept up our part of the bargain by offering exciting workshops, fun classes, and unlimited help from TYR Team.

So what’s this blog going to be about?

Well, besides the obvious updates on what’s happening around the studio, we will also be showcasing up-close and personal interviews from your favorite teachers! We’ll learn what makes them tick, why they became yoga instructors and how their life has changed since they started incorporating yoga into their everyday routines.

Aside from that, there will be a pose of the month. The idea is that you can dedicate a whole month to learning all there is to know about one particular pose. We’ll break it down by discussing the benefits, alignment issues and ways you can take it one step further. After a month of learning all there is to know about the pose, get ready to show it off, because if you submit a photo of you in the pose of the month before the 27th, you’ll be in the running to win a free massage from TYR Team!!

What else, What else, you ask!

We will also be posting healthy recipes, so that you can bring nutrition into your kitchen. Nourishing our bodies from the inside out is extremely important for our overall wellness. Sometimes in life it’s hard to take time to think about what you’re eating, so that’s where we come in. We’ll be providing you with recipes that are quick, easy and affordable. Feel free to ask us any nutrition questions you might have, that’s what we’re here for!

Tell us your thoughts!

Last, but not least, we want to hear from you. What would you want to see around the studio, or featured on the TYR Blog? Have exciting questions you want answered by your favorite teachers, or want to learn something about yoga and don’t know who to ask? Ask us!

We hope you can all join us on our exciting new journey!
