Getting Started
Intro Special
If this is your first visit to either one of our studios, our Intro Special is a perfect way to sample our classes. The Intro Special is a great way to try any of our regular yoga, hot yoga or Pilates mat classes at a very economical rate. Please note that prenatal, mommy & me, and Aerial® classes are not included in this offer. If you have taken only one or two drop-in classes in the past, you might still be eligible (call the front desk to see if you qualify). This is an unlimited membership, allowing you to attend the classes in both studios. Mats and towels are available for rent (mats for $2 and towels for $1).
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move and stretch easily. Stay away from anything too baggy or heavy. Shoes and socks are not worn in class. Although there is no standard yoga attire, we do offer a wide selection of yoga-appropriate workout clothes in our store.
What to bring
Mats, towels, and water bottles can be rented or purchased at the studio or brought from your own home (if you are taking Hot Yoga for the first time you must have water bottle with you in the class). Many people also bring a change of clothes, especially for Hot Yoga Classes. Please note that both our studios have shower facilities. Currently we only provide lockers in our LIC studio, there are only cubbies and shelves in Astoria Studio. (If you have any valuables and there is no locker available, please bring them with you to the practice room and store them at the back of the room. Make sure that your phone is completely OFF.)
What to expect
We strongly recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes early so you have time to sign in, change, and get settled. On your first visit, plan to come a few minutes earlier to fill out a waiver and release form.

Is it OK to eat before class?
Like with any moderate physical activity, it’s best to fuel up in advance. Try to eat two or three hours before class, but certainly have something to eat before class if you’re hungry. As you progress with your practice you will learn what is best for your.
So many teachers!! Whose class should I take?
All of our teachers would love to have you in class. During your unlimited month, try and take the class of as many different teachers as possible. That way, you can see whose teaching style suits your practice. You might be surprised!
What is vinyasa yoga?
Vinyasa is a dynamic sequence of poses that are linked together through the intention of bringing focus to the breath with transitional movement. These classes are taught at regular room temperature. The internal heat produced by this practice purifies muscles and organs, expelling unwanted toxins as well as releasing beneficial hormones and minerals, which can nourish the body when the sweat is massaged back into the skin. Vinyasa greatly improves blood circulation. The Yoga Room offers vinyasa yoga classes at both studios.
What is hot yoga?
Hot yoga is any form of yoga practiced in a heated room. The hot studio is kept anywhere between 95- 105°F, with humidity levels between 15%-30%. The Yoga Room currently offers Hot Yoga classes and Hot Vinyasa classes.
What hours is the studio open?
Each studio opens 30 minutes before the first class begins and closes 20-30 minutes after the last class ends. Please arrive early for 7am classes as door closes promptly at 7:00 o’clock.
Do I need my own mat?
Yes, you need mat for both yoga and Pilates classes. We rent mats and towels at each studio (mats for $2 and towels for $1). We also rent skid-less towels for $2. However, you are welcome to bring your own mat and towel to class. You may also purchase mats and other yoga props in our boutique.
Do I need to be a member to take class?
Anyone may take class at either studio for the drop-in rate of $20. We also offer several classes every week that are designated as ‘community’ at discounted drop-rate of $10 (please note that community classes are CASH ONLY). However if you practice yoga or pilates regularly, membership is better option. Please inquire at the front desk.
Can people under 18 come to class?
Yogis of all ages are encouraged to attend class at The Yoga Room. Minors must have a signed parent/guardian release waiver on file to take class unaccompanied. If you would like to bring a child under age of 13, call the studio to inquire what class is appropriate.
What is the difference between classes and workshops?
Classes are held on a regular basis every month. They may be taken on a drop-in basis and are included in all memberships. Advance registration is not required.
Workshops run in finite sessions or on a one-time basis and are not included in memberships (members receive 10% off). Advance registration is always required, and enrollment must be for an entire session. Workshops generally focus on more specific themes.
What is the difference between class packages and unlimited membership?
A class package allows for one to attend a fixed number of classes within a specific time-frame. Unlimited packages allow for the practitioner to take as many classes as desired within a specific time-frame. For those planning to take 2 or more classes per week, the Unlimited packages are recommended.
Do you sell yoga gear/clothing?
We offer a wide selection of yoga clothing, props, mats, books, and other products in both studios.
What is the return/exchange policy for retail items?
If an item is returned within 7 days of purchase in the condition it was sold, the credit will remain in your account for future purchases.
How do I purchase a gift certificate?
Gift Certificates can be purchased in any denomination. You can purchase them online, over the phone or in person. Please check our Gift Certificate Page.
